Thank you

to Kathy Canfield, Sean Lynch, Tracy Padula, and Michael Storer for speaking at the September 9 &10 weekend Masses on behalf of the Appeal for Catholic Schools. The Appeal for Catholic Schools is the weekend of September 23 & 24. This second collection will support our parish school and the families in need of tuition assistance.

Parent/Student Handbook 2006

The updated Parent/Student Handbook was sent home Wednesday, September 13th. Please read the handbook with your children. Both you and your children need to sign and send back the School Agreement form and the Computer Agreement form in the back of the handbook as soon as possible. Thank you.

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

We received a check for $66.96 from the book fair held last Spring at Barnes and Noble. Many parents used this opportunity to buy the summer reading books. Thank you to those families that participated. Barnes and Noble is interested in sponsoring another book fair this year. When we receive more information we will send it home.

Annual Statement

In compliance with Federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulations, we are required to inform parents and employees associated with St. Mary School of our school’s Asbestos Inspection Reports and Management Plan.

These Inspection Reports and Management Plan, as required by AHERA, are on file at the school office and are available for review during the school’s normal business hours.

Please make your request to review these files through the office of the principal.

CORI FORMS

If you would like to volunteer in the classroom or in the school, or chaperone a field trip, or coach a school team, you will need to fill out a criminal offenders record information form (CORI). We will also need a copy of your driver’s license.

Forms will be available during Curriculum Night for Parents on Thursday, September 28th in the hall. If you already filled out a CORI form in the past, you do not need to do it again.

Parents will not be chosen to chaperone a field trip if a CORI form is not filled out at the beginning of the year.

Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Any student that has an individual education plan (IEP) from the public school should check to see that the plan is up to date. Please notify the classroom teacher of any annual meetings to update the plan. Every three years a student is reevaluated. Also, please make sure we have an updated copy of the IEP. This information is useful throughout the year and especially needed in planning for Terra Nova testing later in the school year.
