Mr. Jim Ferdella
Assistant Principal Grades 5-8 - Physical Education Teacher
B.S. in Education
Masters in Education
MA Certifications: Elementary K-6, Elementary K-8, Middle School 5-9, Supervisor/Director K-12, Principal/Assistant Principal 9-12
I currently live in Leicester MA with my wife of thirty-nine years. We have three daughters: Kimberly, who teaches at the Leicester Middle School, and coaches at Leicester High; Karyn, who teaches and coaches at Auburn High School; and Julie, who teaches Physical Education at the elementary level in Auburn, MA.
I am a career educator of forty years. I have taught students ranging from grades six to twelve, while assuming a variety of positions. The last thirty-one years were spent at Shepherd Hill Regional High School, where I taught various math courses, coached the Varsity Boys Basketball Team, directed a program for at-risk students, taught driver education, and served as Assistant Principal.
The only thing I missed as a public school educator was the ability to share my faith with my colleagues and especially my students. I am sincerely thankful for the opportunity to do this at St. Mary School. Three years ago, I stated that I felt St. Mary School was a “special place”, a place that maintains educational excellence while fostering an environment of spiritual growth. Today I know that my feeling was correct! I thank God for this chance and look forward to future challenges with eager anticipation.
