WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
October 16

World Mission Sunday, organized by the Propagation of the Faith, is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit to the Church’s missionary activity through prayer and giving. As described by Pope John Paul II, it is “an important day in the life of the Church because it teaches how to give: as an offering made to God, in the Eucharistic celebration, for all the missions of the world.” Thank-you for your support in today’s second collection.

WELCOMING THE REVISED ROMAN MISSAL

On the First Sunday of Advent 2011, the newly translated, revised Roman Missal will be put into use in every parish and institution throughout the United States. Some of the spoken parts of the Mass that have been prayed for over 40 years will change. Msgr. James Moroney came to St. Mary’s last March to introduce the upcoming changes to the liturgical ministers and interested parishioners. Articles have appeared in the parish bulletin and can be found on the parish website. A pamphlet “Why is the Translation of the Mass Changing? which was distributed last year can be found again by the bulletins. An additional booklet “Understanding the Revised Mass Texts” which describes the background and meaning of all the changes is also being made available to you. We have ordered pew cards in order to help people pray the new responses starting on November 28th.
