My brothers and sisters in Christ,

I wish to express my gratitude to the parishioners of St. Mary Parish for your generosity to the Annual Partners in Charity Appeal. As you know, the parish has exceeded its goal. In light of this important accomplishment, I offer my deepest appreciation to you.

In 2010, we have recalled the faithful love of one of the Church’s most beloved saints, St. John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests. As we have worked together to provide for the needs of thousands of people in the Diocese of Worcester in the year ahead, we have shared the words of the Cure of Ars, “Let us open our heart…our good God will open His.” Your support of 29 charitable, educational and pastoral programs is an excellent witness of your own Christian generosity.

I am grateful for the efforts of Msgr. Rose as well as those who helped to promote the annual appeal in the parish. Please be assured of my appreciation for the goodness of those parishioners who joined together as Partners in Charity to enable this accomplishment.

With every prayerful best wish, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. McManus S.T.D.
Bishop of Worcester

Have you ever wondered what our social ministry does? Here's a small sample: Our fall furniture drive for people in need. Our twinning project with St. Michel's in Haiti. The Worcester Walk for the Homeless. Tree Planting--with First Congregational Church--at Great Brook Valley. Sharing meals and conversation with former prisoners at Dismas House and Dismas Family Farm. Share the Bounty. Our Item-of-the-month partnership with St. Anne's Food Pantry. Family Social Justice. Eco-Justice. Shrewsbury Small Home Repair Program. Benefit concerts. Heifer Project International. Peace (September 21 is the UN International Day of Peace - aka World Peace Day). And more.

Whether you're already involved in this ministry—or simply curious--we invite you to join us to hear more about these initiatives and to brainstorm new ideas for what promises to be an exciting year. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Joan Fouhy at 508.842.6724 or jfouhy@aol.com.
