HOSPITAL VISITIS AND COMMUNION CALLS

Msgr. Mike and Fr. Adam make regular visits to the UMass Memorial and St. Vincent Hospitals each week to visit parishioners who are patients there. Because of patient privacy laws, they do not always know if a parishioner has been hospitalized. Please call the pastoral center to let us know if a family member or neighbor has been hospitalized or is a patient in a local rehabilitation and nursing center. If you are confined to your home due to illness or age, please call us at the pastoral center so that the priests and Vi Jefferson, our parish nurse, may visit you with communion. |
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION ON FRIDAY
|
Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held every Friday from 9:00 am 1:00 pm in St. Theresa’s Chapel in the Pastoral Center. Parishioners are invited and encourage to come and spend some time in prayer and adoration before the Eucharist, praying not only for their own personal needs but also for the needs of our parish community. Click here for more information. |

St. Mary’s Goal $175,000
Amount Raised in pledges/gifts $141,075
Number of Gifts 407
Every year during the quieter weeks of summer we usually reach our goal for the annual Partners in Charity Appeal. While there is still plenty of summer left, we would like to encourage those who have yet to make a gift or pledge to please do so in the coming weeks. We have now reached 80% of our goal. While this is encouraging, we still have a way to go before reaching our formidable parish goal of $175,000.
Envelopes for your gift/pledge can be found with the bulletins and on the window sills. You may place yours in the collection basket today or mail to the pastoral center during the week. Please be sure to check with your employer about a Matching Gift and attach the form to your pledge card.

July 18 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.” Luke 10:38-42
Martha is doing what was expected of a good Jewish woman of her day preparing food for her family and guest. Her sister Mary, also a good Jewish woman, plops herself down at the feet of Jesus and absorbs every word He says. Martha finally confronts Jesus, “Lord, make her help me!” Jesus knows that Martha is not doing anything wrong. She is doing what she believes is expected of her.
|
|
And she is doing it very well. Jesus suggest she should not be so concerned about what others expect of her, but should spend time to discern what God expects of her. What God expects of us can be quite different than what the world expects of us. We discern God’s will for us in prayer prayer that is not about what we say to God, but about what we are willing to hear from God. Fr. Hacker Fagot, S.J. [d. January 5, 2010] admits that “Too often my prayer is not God, thy will be done! but God, thy will be changed!” Do we pray? What is our prayer? |
