ST. MARY’S SHINING STARS

Shining Stars is an opportunity for parishioners to recognize other parishioners for their stewardship actions and deeds. Do you want to say “thanks” or acknowledge a parish member for being a good steward by using their time, talent or treasure to serve others? You may recognize an individual, a family, a couple, a teenager or child. Download a nomination form from the stewardship section of our parish website: click here.

Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

THE SHINING STAR FOR JULY

Kay Canney

Kay has volunteered for several years as my Religious Education office secretary on Wednesday afternoons while 4th grade classes are going on. She is a very professional and wonderful assistant. She is friendly and helpful to all who come into the office. Kay is one of those “in the background” people who constantly gives of herself to many and in many different ways. She is certainly one of my shining stars and a real pleasure to know. Thanks Kay for who you are and for all you do for our religious education program!

Dear Fr. Michael,

Maryknoll Lay Missioners would like to express our sincere gratitude for your gift of $500 to support the mission of Evan and Sue Marble Cuthbert. Your participation is vital to the work of our missioners in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

We have just celebrated the feast of Pentecost, marking the occasion when the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles, gave them the “gift of tongues” and inspired them to go out and preach the gospel of the Risen Christ. Until then, the Apostles had been turned inward toward Christ and each other. At this point they began to look outward and to speak to the people around them in their own languages.

And so it is each year with our new MKLM missioners. Before departing to the countries in which they will live and serve, they gather in New York to prepare themselves for mission. They look inward to each other and to our staff to gather the skills and understanding they will need in the next three and a half years. They learn a new language. They then turn outward and go to their new homes, inspired by their faith to help the poor, the marginalized, and the dejected. They will join communities- speaking with people in the language they have just learned.

Your support makes this work possible and we look forward to continuing our work together in the years to come. Thank-you and please keep our missioners in your prayers. Remember that you can read about MKLM missioners, their ministries, and the progress you make possible by visiting www.mklm.org. May God bless you and your family!

Sincerely,
Adrianna Melnyk
Vice President of Advancement

HOSPITAL VISITIS AND COMMUNION CALLS

Msgr. Mike and Fr. Adam make regular visits to the UMass – Memorial and St. Vincent Hospitals each week to visit parishioners who are patients there. Because of patient privacy laws, they do not always know if a parishioner has been hospitalized. Please call the pastoral center to let us know if a family member or neighbor has been hospitalized or is a patient in a local rehabilitation and nursing center. If you are confined to your home due to illness or age, please call us at the pastoral center so that the priests and Vi Jefferson, our parish nurse, may visit you with communion.
