Let us open our hearts…Our Good God Will Open His

THANK-YOU to all those who have made their gift over the last few weeks to our annual Partners in Charity Appeal. We are well on our way in this year’s appeal, but we need everyone’s support in order to reach our parish goal of $175,000.

St. Mary’s Goal $175,000
Amount Raised in pledges/gifts $81,100

Partners in Charity supports 29 vital programs which comprise the charitable, educational and ministerial mission of our diocese. Your gift to the appeal this year will provide assistance for the poor, the sick, the young, the disabled, families in crisis, and many thousands more. Our appeal is an opportunity to provide for the needs of others who look to us for hope. Please reflect on the blessings you have received from God as you contemplate a gift to this year’s Partners in Charity Appeal. Please put the gift/pledge envelope you received in the mail in today’s offertory collection. You may also use one of the envelopes found on the window sill and mail to the pastoral center during the week.

STEWARDS ARE GOD’S SHINING STARS

SHINING STARS is an opportunity for parishioners to recognize other parishioners for their stewardship actions and deeds. It is a way to say “thanks” or acknowledge a parish member for living the life of stewardship. Please take one of the Shining Stars forms in the front vestibule of the church today and return to the pastoral center when you have filled it out.

Many thanks to parishioner Jim Egan who had our paschal candle refinished and restored just in time for the Easter season.

April 11 – Second Sunday of Easter

Blessed are those who have not seen and believed.” John 20:19-31

John tells us that the disciples who abandoned Jesus when He was arrested and taken to the cross (John was one of them) were locked in a room a week after they had seen him risen from the dead and He had appeared to them in that same room. Jesus had good reason to be disappointed with them. But He says to them, “Peace be with you!” He knew it was difficult for them to believe even though they had seen. And He knew how difficult it would be for us who had not seen to believe. That is why, at our Baptism, our parents, or we ourselves if we are old enough, promise to make our faith “constantly grow stronger in our hearts” and to “bring that faith unstained into heaven.” We renewed our Baptismal Promises on Easter Sunday. What have we done to make our faith “grow stronger in our hearts”? What are we doing? What will we do in the future? Are we being good stewards of our faith?
