"His son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.' But his father ordered his servants, 'let us celebrate with a feast because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again.'" - Lk 15:21-22a, 23b-24a

The Religious education program is in need of two fairly big screened TV’s and DVD/VHS players. Do you have any you might be getting rid of? To be able to follow up lessons with a DVD on the matter is so vital to young people. If you can help us out, please call Sue Landry at 508.925.7801.

We are so grateful for the gift of last week’s Lenten Mission with Grayson Warren Brown. The large crowds that came from our cluster parishes and beyond were surely renewed and lifted up with the music and message of Grayson Warren Brown. Thank-you to all those parishioners who helped to plan this year’s mission – choir, musicians, greeters, set-up, publicity, CD & book sales, and the reception. A special word of thanks goes to Rick Vacca who coordinated all of the planning efforts for the mission.

24 HOUR ROSARY

On Friday, March 19, 2010 St. Mary’s will begin our annual 24 Hour Rosary and Adoration to pray for an end to abortion. The Rosary will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 19th and end with the 4:30 pm Mass on Saturday, March 20th. Bishop Daniel Reilly will celebrate the Mass and speak on respect for life issues. Leaders have been assigned to pray the rosary every hour parishioners are encouraged to pray with them at anytime during the 24 hours. Please sign up in the church vestibule or the church hall to assist in this devotion. Families are welcome.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES - Your support of this week’s second collection will support disaster relief and development projects in more than 80 nations through Catholic Relief Services.

St. Mary’s is joining many other parishes across the Diocese of Worcester in conducting the annual Partners in Charity Appeal during the Lent season. The annual Partners in Charity Appeal supports 29 vital programs which comprise the charitable, educational and ministerial mission of our local church. Your gift to the appeal this year will provide assistance for the poor, the sick, the young, the disabled, families in crisis, and may thousands more. Our appeal is an opportunity to provide for the needs of others who look to us for hope. Please reflect on the blessings you have received from God as you contemplate a gift to Partners in Charity this year. Please take a moment today to read the bulletin insert which describes some of the special works of ministry that are supported each year by your gift. Look in your mail this week for more information and a gift/pledge envelope. Envelopes will also be available in the pews next weekend.

AN INVITATION TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS

St. Mary's is joining with other churches in town and with the Shrewsbury Senior Center to reach out to older residents who need small repairs to their homes. These repairs range from replacing light bulbs and smoke detectors to installing grab bars or doorbells and helping with basic household repairs.

The Senior Center provides referrals--and volunteers provide the labor. Homeowners pay for materials. Central One Federal Credit Union has provided $2,500 to help those who cannot afford to purchase materials. We're hoping that many members of our parish community will reach out to our neighbors through this program. If you would like to help--or simply find out more, please contact Joan Fouhy at 508.842.6724 or jfouhy@aol.com.
