Fasting is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday for Catholics from age 18-59 years. On these two days of fast one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.

GRAYSON WARREN BROWN IS COMING TO ST. MARY’S
Sunday, March 7 At 7:00 pm
Monday, March 8 At 7:00 pm
Tuesday, March 9 At 7:00 pm
The cluster parishes of St. Anne’s, St Mary’s and St. Mary of the Hills invites you to join us for this year’s “NOT YOUR ORDINARY LENTEN MISSION” with Grayson Warren Brown. Grayson came to St. Mary’s more than ten years ago and the church was filled to capacity each night as people came to hear his music and his preaching. Don’t miss out!
Grayson Warren Brown is an internationally known liturgical composer, author and recording artist. He began his ministry in the late 1960’s in a small inner-city parish in New York City where he learned early how significant an authentic, spirit-filled experience of worship can be to people in need of hope. His many years of experience working in a multicultural parish have given him a unique insight into the power that good liturgy can instill in people of all backgrounds.
Grayson is now dividing his time between writing, composing and traveling the country giving workshops, speaking at conventions and conducting parish missions. His down-to-earth approach to liturgy and Scripture, coupled with his dynamic speaking style, has made him one of the most sought-after presenters in the United States today.

The Church in Latin America is vibrant, diverse in culture, and grounded in deep faith. Though the Church in Latin America is strong in many ways, a very low priest-to-parishioner ratio and the local churches’ inability to support large number of parishioners result in many of the faithful seeking a personal experience and closer sense of community elsewhere. This collection supports pastoral projects that engage Latin American parishioners in their faith, strengthening their sense of mission and identity with the Church. Your generous support of the appeal provides evangelization in rural and poverty-stricken areas, religious training, and catechesis and formation programs. I am very gratified by the efforts of our own Diocesan Hispanic Ministry which serves the large number of Hispanics living in the Diocese of Worcester. The life of faith in these new communities strengthens our local parishes. I am confident that they will continue to grow in the years ahead. I want you to know that a significant portion of this collection remains in our Diocese and assists those who are served by the Diocesan Hispanic Ministry. Your support is essential. Please be assured of my appreciation for your generosity. Sincerely yours in Christ, |
