THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

BLESSING OF AN ADVENT WREATH
God of all hopefulness,
we pray for your blessing upon us and upon this wreath.
With joyful expectation we, your people, wait in darkness
for the coming of the Christ light.
As we light these candles, kindle our faith.
As we pray together, increase our hope.
As we go out into the world, strengthen our love.
Let your wisdom encircle our lives
as this wreath encircles the candlelight.
And grant us the humility to receive your light,
even as these candles receive the flame.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please plan on participating in the 2010 annual March for Life in Washington D.C. The Respect Life Ministry of St. Mary’s is seeking to fill a bus of young and old alike who wish to send a clear message that life is precious and sacred. The delegation will first travel to Worcester on the evening of Thursday, January 21, 2010. Upon arriving at the Cathedral of St. Paul, we will attend an annual Pro-Life Mass with others from throughout the Diocese. |
Then, on to Washington for a day that will include a visit to the beautiful and majestic Basilica of National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, “America’s Catholic Church” and participation in the family-friendly march down scenic Constitution Avenue. Also, for those wishing to do so, a stop will be made at the offices of our elected officials. The group will return to St. Marys late on Friday, January 22nd.
