PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH MISSION COOPERATIVE
|
|
Every summer a missionary comes to our parish for the annual Mission Co-op appeal which is made through the Propagation of the Faith. All who are baptized share in the Church’s mission of evangelization. Each year when a Missionary comes to St. Mary’s, we are able to experience first hand the joy of proclaiming the Good News. Next weekend, July 11 & 12, we will welcome Fr. Philip Pitya to St. Mary’s. Fr. Philip is the USA representative for the SOUTH SUDAN MISSIONS. He will preach at all of the Masses and a second collection will be taken up for the support of his missionary efforts. |
The Sudan is one of the African nations that have been devastated by a vicious civil war. Since 1956 Sudan has been ruled by an elite Muslim group centered in the capital city of Khartoum. For the most part, this elite identifies with Arabic and Islamic culture and wanted to make Sudan an Arab, Islamic country. Communities in the south of Sudan have been bombarded repeatedly, villages burned to the ground, men tortured and killed, women raped and children abducted an deported into slavery. The attempt to totally eliminate the black Africans, which is taking place presently in Darfur, has been going on in the south and central Sudan since 1983.
PLEASE PARDON OUR APPEARANCE - CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY
|
|
As you can tell from the parking lot, our construction is well underway. With the rains subsiding work on the new parking lot will continue this week as the underground drainage system is installed. Work will continue assembling the new boiler in the boiler room and the air conditioning units on the roof. Work has begun around the entrance to the parish hall. During the construction period we will not be able to use some of the entrances to the church and hall. In addition to the front doors and the side door near Main Street, you will also have access to the Church and hall by the door on the Summer Street side of the church as well as the main entrance to the school on Summer Street. |
Thank-you for your patience during this time of construction.

Thank-you for your support of St. Mary Parish.
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED PARISH PAY?
Summer is here and vacations will soon begin. As parishioners head for the ocean, the lakes and mountains, this is a good time of year to consider making your contributions to St. Mary’s through ParishPay. In lieu of weekly collections, the ParishPay program will collect monthly contributions from your checking, savings or credit card account. For more information, click here or call Kerry at the Pastoral Center.

The 2009 Family Festival Celebrating Together!
|
|
This year the theme of the Family Festival is Celebrating Together Builds Our Community. We hope you join us on September 18, 19 and 20, 2009 to celebrate the tradition of the St. Mary Family Festival. This weekend we are kicking off one of the most exciting attractions of the Festival the Grand Raffle. The Raffle is always one of the most anticipated parts of the festival and this year’s grand prize of $15,000 is sure to attract a lot of attention. The second prize this year is just as exciting four box seats to the Red Sox/Indians game on October 4th and four premium seats to the Patriots/Jets game on November 22nd! |
Tickets will be available after all Sunday Masses. Please visit the Raffle Committee to purchase your tickets. As a special Sunday incentive this year, if you purchase two tickets after a Mass, you will have the chance to spin the wheel-of-luck and win an additional ticket. The greater your investment, the greater your odds of winning an extra chance at these great prizes!

Work in faith ...
Labor in love ...
Endure in hope!
Our annual appeal provides the resources which are necessary to continue to the work of 29 charitable, educational and pastoral agencies, ministries and programs absolutely vital to the life of over 300,000 Catholics living in Worcester County. In light of cutbacks in many social service agencies funded by federal, state and local governments, it is especially important that we continue to provide hope for others.
If you have not had the opportunity to do so, please make a gift or pledge to this year’s Partners in Charity appeal. Envelopes have been placed in the pews this weekend as we encourage your participation. Thank-you to all those who have already made their commitment in the past weeks.
