CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES

Our parish community extends its best wishes and prayers to FATHER EDWARD MORAN, Pastor of St. Anne’s Church as he celebrates his Farewell Mass this weekend. May God bless him with good health and a happy retirement. On July 1st we will welcome Fr. John Foley to Shrewsbury as he begins his assignment as the new pastor of St. Anne’s. Welcome!

PLEASE PARDON OUR APPEARANCE …. CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY

As you can tell from the parking lot, our construction is well underway. With the rains subsiding work on the new parking lot will continue this week as the underground drainage system is installed. Work will continue assembling the new boiler in the boiler room and the air conditioning units on the roof. Work has begun around the entrance to the parish hall. During the construction period we will not be able to use some of the entrances to the church and hall. In addition to the front doors and the side door near Main Street, you will also have access to the Church and hall by the door on the Summer Street side of the church as well as the main entrance to the school on Summer Street.

Thank-you for your patience during this time of construction.

PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION

Today’s second collection will be for the support of The Works of the Holy Father. This annual collection, often called Peter’s Pence, allows the Holy Father to respond quickly to those who suffer as a result of oppression, natural disasters, war and disease. Thank-you for your contribution.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED PARISH PAY?

Summer is here and vacations will soon begin. As parishioners head for the ocean, the lakes and mountains, this is a good time of year to consider making your contributions to St. Mary’s through ParishPay. In lieu of weekly collections, the ParishPay program will collect monthly contributions from your checking, savings or credit card account. For more information, click here or call Kerry at the Pastoral Center.

YEAR OF ST. PAUL

This Monday’s Feast of Saints Peter and Paul will bring to an end the Year of St. Paul which we have observed this past year in honor of the 2000th anniversary of the birth of St. Paul. We in the Diocese of Worcester have a great interest in the life, ministry and legacy of this great Apostle as our Diocese is placed under his patronage and our Cathedral Church enjoys his name. Let us continue to pray that through the intercession of our patron St. Paul, the apostle, preacher and teacher of the faith, our love for Jesus Christ and his Church may increase.

Work in faith ...
Labor in love ...
Endure in hope!

Bishop McManus has asked all parishes in the diocese to undertake one final appeal to parishioners on behalf of the Annual Partners in Charity Appeal. Currently we have reached 85% of our diocesan goal with over eighteen thousand Catholics in the diocese of Worcester who have already made a donation. In recent years we have typically had better results by this time. We all recognize the impact of current economic conditions on our campaign as well as similar charitable appeals in our communities.

Our annual appeal provides the resources which are necessary to continue to the work of 29 charitable, educational and pastoral agencies, ministries and programs absolutely vital to the life of over 300,000 Catholics living in Worcester County. In light of cutbacks in many social service agencies funded by federal, state and local governments, it is especially important that we continue to provide hope for others.

If you have not had the opportunity to do so, please make a gift or pledge to this year’s Partners in Charity appeal. Envelopes have been placed in the pews this weekend as we encourage your participation. Thank-you to all those who have already made their commitment in the past weeks.
