The council seeks to develop the seven essential elements of parish life – Word, Worship, Community, Service, Stewardship, Leadership and Evangelization. First Communion Parents:

If your child did not bring their letter to Jesus on his/her First Communion day, please get it into the office to me. We are doing something special with all of the letters and I don’t want anyone to lose out. Thank you. Sue Landry

A very special ‘thank you’ to all of our First Communion teachers and aides for the wonderful job you did in preparing our children to receive Jesus for the very first time. Your commitment to these children was exceptional and we are so very grateful to you. God bless you all and have a wonderful summer.

With grateful love, Sue

MAY IS HAITI SOLIDARITY MONTH

We are one in Christ Jesus beyond our differences and boundaries. – Galatians 3:28

May is Haiti Solidarity Month in the Diocese of Worcester as we highlight our Covenant with the Diocese of Les Cayes and the twinning relationship that exists between several parishes in Worcester and Les Cayes. The Diocese of Worcester maintains a mission house in Les Cayes and St. Mary’s continues our twinning partnership with St. Michel’s Parish in Bateau-a-Roche which is about two hours away from the mission house. Each month we send $800 to help support the needs of St. Michel’s. Join us as we offer our continued support to the people of Haiti

Sunday, May 17

9:00 am & 11:00 am Masses
The Haitian Choir from Mattapan will return to our parish and sing at these celebrations

May 16 & 17

Support St. Michel’s parish with a donation. Envelopes will be available for your support of our twinned parish.
Members of our parish Haiti committee will be pleased to accept your donation as you leave Mass this weekend.

Work in faith ...
Labor in love ...
Endure in hope!

THANK-YOU to all those who have made their gift over the last month to our annual Partners in Charity Appeal. We are making our way in this year’s appeal, but we need everyone’s support in order to reach our parish goal of $175,000.

St. Mary’s Goal $175,000
Amount Raised in pledges /Gifts $123,354
Number of Gifts 334

Answer the call of the Lord and sustain the works of charity, education and ministry in our diocese throughout the year. The needs increase each year simply because the needs of people continue to grow. More than 300,000 Catholics living in Worcester County and thousands of other people, representing virtually every race and creed, will benefit from your generosity. Over the years St. Mary’s Parish has consistently demonstrated its goodness to others. We are leaders in providing charitable, education and human services for others. Through this year’s appeal we will continue to bring hope to others.

Envelopes for your gift/pledge can be found at the entrances of the church and on the window sills. You may place them in the collection basket today or mail to the pastoral center during the week. Please be sure to check with your employer about a Matching Gift and attach the form to your pledge card.

THE H1N1 VIRUS – SWINE FLU

As the Center for Disease Control continues to monitor the outbreak of the swine flu in our country, we share these recommendations with our parishioners attending Mass

You may refrain from holding hands at the Lord’s Prayer and shaking hands at the sign of peace – simply acknowledge those around you with a smile, nod of the head or the words “peace be with you”

Should the flu become more of a health hazard in our area, announcements regarding the suspension of certain liturgical practices will be made. Let us pray that God will protect our communities and grant those who are ill healing comfort and recovery from this disease.

EAGLE COURT OF HONOR - CONGRATULATIONS

We extend our congratulations to Jeff Doyle of our parish who received his Eagle Scout award this Saturday at a special Eagle Court of Honor held with his family, friends and fellow scouts.
