EASTER BLESSINGS EASTER SUNDAY
As we come together today to celebrate the great Feast of the Resurrection, let us rejoice in the hope and promise that Christ’s victory over death brings to all of us. For 40 days during Lent we have prepared for this day. This past week we have remembered Jesus’ Last Supper, Passion and Death on the Cross. And now we celebrate the Resurrection. The fasting has ended and the feasting begins. We will celebrate Easter for the next 50 days!
I want to express my deep thanks to the many parishioners who helped to make our liturgies of Holy Week and Easter such inspiring and faith-filled celebrations. Thank-you to Rick Vacca, Marti Page choir members, musicians and cantors for the wonderful music which added so much to our liturgies. The moving experience of the Shadow of the Cross truly prepared us all for Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Thank-you to Fr. Adam, the members of the Liturgy Committee and the Art & Environment Committee for the careful attention given to planning our celebrations and decorating the church and the chapel at Calvary Retreat Center. Thanks to the lectors, ministers of communion, altar servers, greeters and ushers for serving in these ministries throughout the year. Thank-you to Deacon Frank and the RCIA team for leading our 3 adults to the Easter sacraments. Thank-you to Susan Zybert and Mary Cote for coordinating the Palm Sunday passion readers and to all those who participated in the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. Thank-you to the parish staff for all your extra efforts throughout Lent and Holy Week. May the Lord bless you, your families and all of us at St. Mary’s throughout this Easter season. May we experience the joy and the promise that Jesus’ Resurrection brings.
Happy Easter!
Fr. Mike

EASTER FLOWERS Thank-you to all who have honored and remembered their loved ones in a special way with memorial contributions for the Easter Flowers. We will remember your family members and friends at Mass throughout the Easter season. |
THANK-YOU ST. MARY’S PARISHIONERS
Thank-you for your contributions during the Lenten season through the CRS Rice Bowls and Lenten collection cans. You may drop them in the basket in the main vestibule of the church this week and next. Your gifts will be divided among several charitable ministries that our parish support, including St. Anne’s Human Services, Maryknoll Lay Missioners (Evan & Sue Cuthbert), St. Michel’s in Roche-a-Bateau (our sister parish in Haiti), the Little Brown House, and the Marie-Anne center at St. Bernard’s Church.
Thank-you for helping St. Mary’s Outreach and St. Anne’s Parish feed the less fortunate of our community for Easter with your generous donations of food gift cards.

Work in faith ...
Labor in love ...
Endure in hope!
THANK-YOU to all those who have made their gift over the last two weeks to our annual Partners in Charity Appeal. Partners in Charity support 29 vital programs which comprise the charitable, educational and ministerial mission of our diocese. Your gift to the appeal this year will provide assistance for the poor, the sick, they young, the disabled, families in crisis, and many thousands more. Our appeal is an opportunity to provide for the needs of others who look to us for hope. Please reflect on the blessings you have received from God as you contemplate a gift to the Partners in Charity Appeal this year. Our parish goal this year is $175,000. Please put the gift/pledge envelope you received in the mail in with today’s offertory collection. You may also use one of the envelopes found on the window sills.

ST. MARY’S BUILDING PROJECT UPDATE
Our parish building project continues to move forward as the rest of the contents of the Little Brown House are donated to Donations Clearing House, and as we pack up the rectory for our move to Red Coat Road during school vacation week. Some asbestos in the cellars of the two houses will also be abated during this week. Volunteers from Matthew 25 have already moved some shrubs to houses that are being rehabbed in Worcester and they will be removing all the doors and other materials from the rectory for their projects.
THANK-YOU to all those parishioners who have recently made their pledge to the Capital Campaign Our Enduring Covenant. Thanks also to those parishioners who have been faithfully making payments on their pledges. If you have not had an opportunity yet to make your pledge, we encourage you to do so in the coming weeks. Pledge envelopes and brochures can be found with the bulletins or at the pastoral center during the week.

Dismas House - Volunteers Needed
|
|
Dismas House is located on a quiet street in inner city Worcester , Dismas House is a residential program for former prisoners. Legend has it that Dismas was the name of the “good thief” who was crucified with Jesus, and the directors of Dismas House have made it their mission to offer a second chance to those who have served time and been released from prison. In their words, “Dismas offers a chance to reconcile former prisoners with society and society with former prisoners, through the creation of a supportive community”. |
St. Mary’s Social Justice ministry is looking to cook, serve and break bread with the residents of Dismas House on Friday, April 17th. We welcome anyone who would like to help in any way. We will gather at about 4p.m. and be done with the meal and clean-up by 7p.m. If you would like to be part of this new parish ministry, please contact Joan Fouhy at 508 842 6724 or Gina Kuruvilla at 508 523 3958. Thank you!
