THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT

God of mercy, who sent your Son into the world |
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Jesus tells his disciples of the immeasurable generosity God has bestowed on them by offering His only Son for their salvation. Good stewards realize this wonderful gift. God has sacrificed what is most dear to Him for our sake. Do we rejoice in this gift of Our Savior and respond to this love with our own immeasurable generosity? Do we allow the light of Christ to shine in the world through us? Or do we withdraw, refusing this gift, and prefer to live in a way that denies the light of Christ?
DAILY MASS will be celebrated at 6:45 am (Monday Friday) and 8:30 am (Monday Saturday) during the season of Lent. Join us each day to be fed with God’s Word and the Eucharist. The students at St. Mary School will join us for the 8:30 am Mass on Thursday, March 19th as we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRAYER include the ROSARY at 7:30 pm on Monday evenings in the pastoral center chapel and ADORATION OF THE EUCHARIST on Fridays from 9:00 am 1:00 pm. Join us.

Shadow of The Cross Date: Friday evening, April 3, 2009 The Shadow of The Cross by Lloyd Larson is a musical setting with narrative passages and songs that focuses on the final hours of Jesus’ life and crucifixion. It reminds us of the magnitude of God’s love, a love so great that it continues through all time and eternity. For Shadows to exist there must be light. In the case of the Passion story of our Lord, that light, as the gospel of John tells us, “was the light of all people”. But as John affirms “ The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it”. Candles are extinguish after the completion of each choral piece with the intent to underscore the gradual and deepening darkness as Christ death becomes imminent and final The service ends in almost complete darkness and the congregation departs in silence and reflection. |

Dismas House is a residential program for former prisoners. Legend has it that Dismas was the name of the “good thief” who was crucified with Jesus, and the directors of Dismas House have made it their mission to offer a second chance to those who have served time and been released from prison. St. Mary’s Social Justice ministry is looking to cook, serve and break bread with the residents of Dismas House on Friday, April 17th. We welcome anyone who would like to help in any way. We will gather at about 4p.m. and be done with the meal and clean-up by 7p.m. If you would like to be part of this new parish ministry, please contact Joan Fouhy at 508 842 6724 or Gina Kuruvilla at 508 523 3958.
