LENT IS COMING...
The season of Lent will begin soon on Ash Wednesday, February 25th. Plan now to join us at St. Mary’s as we enter into this holy season.
|
FAST & ABSTINENCE DURING LENT
Abstinence from meat is observed on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent for Catholics 14 years of age and older. Fasting is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday for Catholics from age 18-59 years. On these two days of fast one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.
DAILY MASS will be celebrated during the season of Lent at 6:45 am and 8:30 am (Monday thru Friday) and 8:30 am on Saturday.
LOVE LOAVES (small Lenten offering containers) and CRS Rice Bowls are available this weekend for your Lenten almsgiving. Your contributions will be divided among several charitable ministries that our parish supports, including St. Anne’s Human Services, Maryknoll Lay Missioners (Evan & Sue Cuthbert), St. Michel’s in Roche-a-Bateau (our sister parish in Haiti), and the Marie-Anne Center at St. Bernard’s Church. As the containers are much smaller this year, may we suggest that you fill them with quarters only.
40 DAYS FOR LIFE
Christians throughout our Diocese are invited to take part in the national 40 Days for Life effort from February 25 through April 5. In addition to 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion in America, please consider volunteering to pray outside of the Planned Parenthood, 631 Lincoln Street, Worcester one or more hours during the 40 days’ and spread the word to others about this important life-saving effort. You are welcome to join Bishop McManus in prayer outside Planned Parenthood on Ash Wednesday, February 25 at 10am. For more information or to volunteer to help, please contact www.prolifeworcester@charter.net. All are welcome!
