R.C.I.A. Celebrates 15 Years at St. Mary’s
BY GREG MORELLI, R.C.I.A. director
The RCIA kicked off its 15th year at St. Mary’s with an Open House on October 1. Team members and past candidates gathered to catch up with old friends and welcome new ones. Several ``inquirers’’ stopped by to find out more and we all look forward to a faith-filled year.
The RCIA meets every Sunday to explore the Catholic faith and prepare adults for one or more of the sacraments of initiation. We learn what makes the Catholic church Catholic, how the sacraments guide and strengthen us on our journey, and explore scripture. At the Easter Vigil we conclude our formaljourney together by celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. It is a great celebration of our faith. Mark your calendar for April 7 and come join us.
As the RCIA team and candidates begin their journey, please keep us in your prayers. It’s an important time for both team members and candidates as we begin to build community within our group as well as the larger St. Mary’s parish.
Soon, we will enter the season of Advent and will again celebrate the birth of Jesus. For the candidates, Advent is a special time as it marks the point in their journey when they assemble publicly forthe first time and declare their intention to the Church. We, the St. Mary’s community, on behalf of the Church, will accept them as people who intend to become members.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Catholic or if you are a Catholic who is interested in completing your initiation through the sacrament of Confirmation, please contact Fr. Mike, Fr. Manny or Greg Morelli at 508.845.6938.
If you would like to enrich and awaken your faith by joining the RCIA team this year, please join us at one of our weekly meetings. The schedule is in the bulletin each week. Or if you prefer, feel free to contact Greg Morelli.
