A Psalm of Joy - for my Mother

This lovely psalm was composed by Marti Page for her mother’s birthday.

I will praise you, my God, with Joy
All the days of my life.
From my birth you have called me ‘Beloved’.
You have placed within me a voice to sing
And a heart to love.
The sun rises and I feel its warmth
Within and without.
I rise with gratitude for the gift of a new day
Knowing you are ever near;
With gladness of heart, I receive the blessings you bestow.
**I will praise you, my God, with Joy
All the days of my life.**
Day after day,You have given me
Gifts beyond compare.
How can it be that one such as I
Should be called beloved by You?
I know full well that I am your child
And yet the thought humbles my heart.
Though I may falter in the trying
I will forever follow you and teach your ways.
**I will praise you, my God, with Joy
All the days of my life.**
The world may throw its worst at me
And trials may find me,
Yet will I call upon your name to sustain me…
Let the sun set on the day and on the world;
For my part, I will trust and rest in you;
The demon of Darkness has no hold on me.
You have loved me at my frailest
And walked me through the night.
Your light was placed in my heart long ago
So that I might know that I am never alone.
Therefore, I will praise, and sing, and love with Joy
All my life long.
And when the day comes that you call me to your side
I will praise the God who made me
And loved me all my days.
My spirit will soar
And my Joy will be complete
Because I have lived a full life as your beloved child.
**I will praise you, my God, with Joy
All the days of my life.**
Amen.

Prayerfully composed and Gratefully given on the occasion of your 90th birthday.
With all my love,

Marti
