Just for Today

A psalm composed by Marti Page

I come to you this morning, O God,
Asking for Your grace.
Just for Today
Give me courage to right wrongs,
To stand for justice,
To love the unlovable.
Just for Today
I have no strength but yours.
And, so, I ask that You place me in the fire –
That fire of Your love that strengthens this vessel,
And secures my convictions.
I am but unmolded clay,
Cold and formless.
Yet, in Your hands I become as finest porcelain.
Let me see the beauty You have placed within me.
Just for Today.
Help me listen to Your every whisper,
Your every call, prodding and urging
That I might respond to Your will,
Carrying Your love to Your people.
Just for today
There is nothing for me but this day,
This hour,
This moment.
Guide me that I might cherish and use each tick of time
As Your ambassador –
Speaking compassion,
Offering refuge,
Denying evil,
Accepting all of life,
Feeding where needed,
Keeping holy silence.
Just for Today
I have come to know through Your Divine Presence
That my life belongs not to the world,
Not to those around me,
Not even to myself,
But to You alone,
I give You my heart,
My efforts,
My passion,
My weakness,
My sin,
My attention,
My love.
That I might be reconciled to You
Just for Today.
