Home Baked Bread Real Loaves of Love
By Sue Landry, Director of Religious Education
On February 11, 176 First Communion students, teachers and parent drivers delivered homemade bread to their hungry, lonely, homeless and forgotten neighbors all over Worcester and Shrewsbury. The children took part in the making of the love loaves which were blessed and prayed over by Fr. Mike and Fr. Manuel and the hundreds gathered just before they 'hit the road.'
The groups were met by the representatives of each place they visited and were given a wonderful tour and explanation of how they helped those in need.
The children were delighted giving their bread to those 'new friends' they met that day and they, along with their teachers and parents, experienced a special awareness that we don't often think about in our busy lives. Many classes wanted to do more for the neighbors they visited and are doing so.
Special thanks to all who make this a special day for everyone. This is what being a Christian Community is all about.
