Parishioners Make Outdoor Nativity Possible
By Amy Kotsopoulos
This Christmas, a wonderfully lifelike Outdoor Nativity scene was displayed on the grounds of St. Marys. This project was entirely self funded. Everything - from the Nativity prayer service, reception, all the figurines, to the materials to build the stable - was paid in full with the money raised in November and December and donated by very generous parishioners.
The labor to construct the stable was also donated and involved the efforts of some very skilled parishioners, who donated a tremendous amount of time and energy during an already hectic time of year. A plaque expressing the parishs gratitude is being developed and will be displayed in the Parish Hall in the very near future.
The nativity is not only a wonderful expression of the true meaning of the Christmas season, but many of the figurines were donated in memory of or in honor of loved ones, who will be remembered in a very special way at Christmas, often a very painful time especially for those who have experienced loss.
