Art and Environment Committee Formed

By Amy Kotsopoulos

This new subcommittee of the liturgy committee, formed in September, will plan the look of the altar and the church environs throughout the year. The committee is made up of 12 women who meet about five times a year. These members are also in charge of the execution of the plans.

The committee is chaired by Dawn Guarino. Assisting her is Anne Marie Blute who has taken on the task of creating a database of all yearly expenses to track year-to-year financial information in order to help plan future events in a fiscally prudent manner.

Another significant change is that the two annual flower collections have been budgeted so that we can use the funds to beautify the altar throughout the liturgical year, not only during Christmas and Easter (e.g., All Souls, Advent, Lent, Pentecost, and the various Marion feast days). A formula that seems to have served this group well with respect to its approach to decorating the church is “less is more.”

Formation of the new Art & Environment Committee in September.

This is actually a subcommittee of the liturgy committee, and is made up of 12 women who meet about five times a year to plan the look of the altar and church environs throughout the year and execute these plans. One member, Ann Marie Blute, has taken on the task of creating a database of all yearly expenses so that we will have year-to-year financial information to help plan future events in a financially prudent manner. Fr. Dennis was instrumental in getting this group formed. Dawn Guarino is the group’s chairperson. She has been instrumental in organizing and executing the group’s mission. Her phone number is 508.842.0962. These two people would be able to provide you with more information.
