A Note from Religious Education

By Sue Landry, Director of Religious Education

From the "new kid" on the block, I would like to say how VERY impressed I am with St. Mary’s Parish! I have never ministered in such a vibrant parish. Our priests are the best and so involved right along with you. I see ownership on the part of the people and they seem to love their involvement with their parish. You have something very special going on here. Don’t ever lose it! Let your joyful witness invite more participation. You have all welcomed me so warmly and I already feel "at home" with you. Thank you.

We are off to a wonderful start of the year. Many thanks to the parents who jumped on the bandwagon when we changed grades 1 and 2 to Saturday mornings. I know that was a tough move. It told me how important your child’s faith journey is to you Thanks, parents!

Our Catechists are the best and give of themselves in so many ways for our youth. I am very delighted with them.

I need to say a special thank you also to Laura Osbourne, our Grades 5-8 Coordinator for the years of professional and caring concern for the catechists and students in those grades. She is the best!

And . . . it is so nice to have a "man around the house!" Evan Cuthbert, our Youth Minister and High School Coordinator is one of the most sincere and hardworking young men I have ever been blessed to work with. He wants so much for our young men and women to realize how much Jesus cares and wants to be the co-pilot of their journey of faith and life.

We have a very committed Religious Education Board made up of staff, catechists and dedicated parents who wan the best faith formation for our entire parish. We are truly blessed!

Diane Tymon, our Administrative Assistant, is a miracle worker! She deserves a medal for handling the many registrations and changes and more changes and . . . Thanks so much, Diane.

Our "Introduction to the Old Testament" started Wednesday, November 5. It will continue weekly until March. The meetings are held at 9:30 in St. Matthew’s room in the Pastoral Center. Come and bring a friend. See you there!
