A Word of Thanks

By Sr. Dorothy Scesny

Scripture tells us that there is a time for all things...a time to say hello and a time to bid farewell.  Saying 'good-bye' is never easy. Though my stay at St. Mary's has been brief, it has been most rewarding.  As I continue to make my way to New York and my new ministry as a member of my Congregational Leadership Team, I will recall with fondness my ministry with you.

I extend my gratitude to the members of the Religious Education Board, to each catechist, to the parents of the children in Religious Ed, Family, Home and Children's RCIA Programs, and to the parents of the children in St. Mary's School, it has been a privilege for me to assist you in the religious formation of your family.

I am grateful to the members of the Liturgy Committee, the Haitian Committee, the Stewardship Committee, and the Social Justice Committee; I have so enjoyed being part of your ministries.

I also want to express my thanks to Fr. Paul, the staff and the members of the Parish Council. And a special 'thank you' to the children of St. Mary's.  What a joy it has been for me to watch you grow in your relationship with God, to watch you say 'yes' to the love God has for you in the way you share God's love with others.

As this parish increases in number, in energy and in faith, God's abiding presence among you will be experienced in the good that you do for the neighborhood, the diocese and the global community.  As a parish and as individual families, your generosity toward those in need has deeply inspired me. I pray that God will continue to fill your hearts and your homes with love, joy, peace and deep faith. When it is time to pray.....please remember me.
