Students Design Science Fair Entries

The middle of April found the students of grade five through eight participating in a Science Fair. The fair is held every other year here at St Mary, and involves all of the middle school children.

For the students, the fair began in January as they decided on a type of project (research or experiment) and what topic they would investigate. Grades seven and eight could only do experimentally based projects. Grades five and six could choose either (this was following the standards for the Diocese). The students worked as individuals or in pairs, designing and completing their experiments themselves.

A team of a dozen judges was on hand to ensure that each project got judged twice. Three winners (or teams) per grade were selected to go on to compete against other school at the Diocesan Science Fair May 15.
