Q-WHY IS ST. MARY’S PARISH LAUNCHING A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?

A–Over the past ten years there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the lack of space and aging facilities. The existing St. Mary’s was built in 1960, over 45 years ago and today is inadequate for our needs. A planning study showed that a strong majority of parishioners agreed that something must be done. St. Mary’s Capital Campaign seeks to raise $7.5 million to fund this renovation and expansion program.

Q-WHAT DETERMINED THE NEED TO EXPAND AND RENOVATE ST. MARY’S PARISH?

A-St. Mary’s Parish has grown from 3,500 members in 1960 to over 8,000 members today and continues to grow. With the growth of our parish community there has been concurrent growth in the number of parish ministries, services and activities, all of which has put an increased burden on current facilities.

Q-WHO WILL BE ASKED TO CONTRIBUTE TO ST. MARY’S CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?

A-Every member of the Campaign Cabinet , the Pastoral Council, employees of St. Mary’s Parish and the teachers and staff of St. Mary’s school, have demonstrated strong commitment to the project. We now invite all parishioners to support this effort with a sacrificial financial contribution.

Q-HOW CAN I GIVE?

A-A gift of cash can be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly with payments distributed over a 3 to 5 year period. There are several alternatives to cash gifts – appreciated securities, real estate, and matching gifts – that may afford tax-deduction benefits. You are encouraged to consult with your attorney or financial advisor as you consider how to make your pledge.

Q-ARE ALL CONTRIBUTIONS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

A-Yes. Your contribution allows you to take advantage of our nation’s favorable tax laws that encourage charitable giving. St. Mary’s Parish will provide a gift acknowledgment letter suitable for tax purposes.

Q-ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NAMED GIFTS AVAILABLE?

A-Yes all gifts of $25,000 and above have named giving opportunities that are available in St. Mary’s Capital Campaign. A separate list of these opportunities is enclosed. You may wish to give in your family name or you can create a gift in memory or honor of another person. All donors however will receive some form of recognition.
